Slowly, to the sea

Gouache 29.7 x 42cm
The paintings I have been doing of late are all inspired by rivers and their calmness, as opposed to the noise and rush of the waves, wind, spray of the ocean.  I was thinking of the deep shadows and the coldness of rivers of my youth living in the South West of Western Australia.  In addition we were warned of their own particular dangers: fresh water meaning a the lack of boyancy, deep shadows masking hidden sticks, branches, rocks.
