A Rainy Day

Watercolour 30.5 x 22.8cm
Sydney has just been through the wettest March on record and there is flooding in the north of NSWs and southern QLD.  Plenty of inspiration for this work.

Still life with vinegar bottle

Watercolour 22.8 x 30.5cm
I am still finding the genre of still life interesting, especially as the weather continues to be wet thereby preventing plein air.  I have taken a composition that I previously painted in oils a couple of years ago and have redone a version in watercolour.

Still life with yellow mug I and II

I
Watercolour 21 x 29.7cm

II
Watercolour 21 x 29.7
It has been raining everyday off and on for over a week with little chance of getting out to do some plein air.  So, for a change here are a couple of still life paintings.

Cliffs, Tamarama

Watercolour 22.8 x 30.5cm
Tamarama is a little bay nestled in between two headlands with Bondi on the north side and Bronte on the south side. It was first named Gamma gamma which means 'storm' by the indigenous owners. This certainly applies to the surf here which can be very treacherous.

Tamarama Beach has been painted by many artists:
This is an Romantic example by Julian Rossi Ashton
Title: A summer morning. Painted 1899.

990 x 597mm

Elioth Gruner 22.8 x 27cm
Painted in 1920 on a very calm day with the emphasis being on family and relaxation.

Rocks and Sea

Watercolour 22.8 x 30.5cm
This is based on a trip I made to Pearl Beach where, on the south side, it becomes quite rocky.

Beach Umbrella

Watercolour 30.5 x 22.8cm
It is anything but beach weather today: grey sky and raining, raining, raining.  But thought I would invent a colourful scene with the memory of summer.
