Shark Nets

Watercolour and collage incorporating plastic
30. 5 x 22.8cm
I have painted a number of works of this beach.  I am quite intrigued with the Shark Nets especially as we seem to be quite terrified of sharks despite the low statistics of fatalities, certainly compared to cars.  And also can't help feeling a certain amount of irony.  We are killing everything including ourselves through our plastic rubbish.  In fact, I am more terrified by the implications of plastic.
So I have collaged in some coloured and clear plastic.

Shark Net II

Watercolour 30.5 x 20cm
I was playing around with composition here, so yes, that is the Sydney skyline in the distance. However, my main concern was to reduce the landforms to simple shapes and the water as bands of colour.
