Homage to Hannah Hoch

Collage, ink, pencil on cartridge 48 x 64 cm

Hannah Hoch was a German Dadaist artist and feminist, who made photomontages and collages which were highly political, often satirizing gender and racial stereotypes.

Veiled

Collage, ink, charcoal on archers paper 64 x 48cm
I was thinking of how women come under a lot of social pressure for what they wear:
whether for covering up too much or for covering up too little.

Tangled

Ink, charcoal and water colour on cartridge paper. 58.5 x 42 cm
I have been doing a lot of drawing lately and after careful learning of anatomy, this is a bit of a break out.

Three figures

Collage, acrylic and ink on cartridge 60 x 45.5 cm
This was a break out and an exercise in composition.
There is something about collage, sitting with scissors and glue, that transports me straight back to childhood.
